My Thoughts on Get Out
Get Out is a horror film written and directed by Jordan Peele. The main character Chris, played Daniel Kaluuya. This movie is about a black man, Chris, meeting his white girlfriend, Rose, parents for first time. Chris meets his girlfriends family on weekend trip to her family's house. The situation is normal to start but as the story progresses, he realizes that Rose and family is not normal. He finds out that her parents abduct African American people to brainwash them, render them unconscious and steal their bodies. This film was probably my favorite one in a long time. As someone who hates horror, I learned that horror with a side of comedic relief can be so beneficial. This film had a lot of very suspenseful moments especially towards the last 30 minutes of the film where Chris, fills the pieces together and creates a way for him to escape. The comedic relief here and there allowed someone like me to handle all the horror moments which is a nice way to alleviate some of the stress building up among the audience. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I would 100% watch it again since it wasn't the horror image that I had in my head but much rather a suspenseful film. I always thought horror films need to be gory but this changed my expectations for the better as I plan on giving more horror movies a try.
Hey if you want some suggestions for horror films I've got plenty! I will say that if you're looking for something without gore that's very directly tense then I'm a big fan of Alien.
