What I thought about Swiss Army Man

The movie written and directed by Daniel Scheinert and Daniel was a comedy and drama film. The movies main actors Paul Dano as Hank and Daniel Radcliffe as Manny. The film starts off with Hank on a deserted island trying to commit suicide, however this all changes when he sees a random person wash up on shore, that person being Manny. Hank then proceeds to go over to the body and the body begins to fart. He then uses Manny as jet ski by utilizing his farts as propellers. They were then able to reach safe place where they can take shelter for the night. Hank gives him the name Manny and begins to tell him about everything. From teaching him about different life experiences and what do to when he sees a female he likes. During their time in the forest Hank has Manny experience some of his past experiences with life. One of the pivotal examples of this is the picture of a girl on a bus. So Hank then creates the whole scene just for him to explore his own life and pursue different feelings. Hank and Manny eventually make it back civilization, however Manny's body lead them to where the house of the girl he took a picture of. His daughter then find the two in the backyard and this results in the police getting called to figure out what happened to them. They then take Manny's body because he is presumed dead. However Hank has other plans in mind, and he takes the body and runs off with it back into the forest being chased by the police, the girl from the picture and lastly Hanks father. Once Hank gets back out onto the beach Manny uses his farts as a jet ski to go far away again.

My overall feelings of this movie were quite strange. The beginning really threw me off because of whole farting dynamic. I think the dynamic between Manny and Hank was very unique. The way I took it was Manny was everything that goes on in Hanks mind, things he imagines and Manny is the embodiment

of those thoughts. All the things that happen in the movie were things that Hank wish happened to him and Manny is there to allow him to flesh out those thoughts. Manny also symbolizes all the regret that has built up in his life and it ends on a high note where Manny farts away almost saying to let go of that fear and regret that you had built up all this time.
