My Favorite Shot

  For my Second blog post of the semester, I wanted to take a look at a shot from a movie that I could watch over and over again because it motivates me so much. It is from the movie Creed, directed by Ryan Coogler. 

This movie is very important to me as it makes me reflect on my childhood. As someone who really loves Rocky Movies this one being present day has taught me a lot about perseverance. This plot is easy to understand Adonis Creed is seeking to become a professional boxer and in order to start a new life he travels to Philadelphia to learn under Rocky Balboa, however, he is reluctant at first Rocky eventually caves in and teaches Donny how to properly box and to propel him to world stage. I love this scene because it is the first scene where Donny learns from Rocky and he is finally able to pursue his dreams. This is similar to me where I didn't know how to properly play soccer the right way until I met one of my favorite coaches, he taught me how to play my way and use my strengths and as a kid, this movie was amazing for me. 

Another scene that I found that I really enjoyed was the one where Adonis said "Checkmate." In this fight, he was losing the vast majority of the round and was only able to land a few punches. Once he kept analyzing his opponent he realized that a particular part of his opponent's body was weaker and easily break down if he punched it. And that's where the line "checkmate" came in. I like this scene a lot because of the stakes on the line, his coaches didn't feel confident in the situation he was putting himself in. The shot was a close-up of his face highlighting that it was just him alone in this battle and it makes you feel are in front of him and seeing and understanding his thought process.
