My Thoughts on Rear Window
Rear Window is a 1954 murder mystery movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The leads James Stewart who plays LB Jefferies and Grace Kelly as Lisa Fremont. These characters have an interesting dynamic as for the first half of the film Lisa is very much in love with Jefferies however, Jefferies doesn't know if he would feel the same because he doesn't necessarily agree with Lisa's lifestyle. the movie has a very uniqueness to it as every time Jefferies is looking through his window, we see through his window as well. This is something I really enjoyed because it made you feel like you are apart of the film and you are seeing what the around Jefferies is unfolding to be. This experience provides suspense to an already suspenseful film. The first half of the film I felt was a little slow as it felt like it took a long time to build up to the second half. The movements felt very slow in the first half, almost felt like it was in .5 speed. Which isn't bad but it isn't necessarily good. I think I am more used to modern day movies where you have to take in a lot of information at once in a very quick moment in time. However once we hid the second part where Jefferies and Lisa started working together to solve the case, that is when it began to speed up to my liking. Other than that I felt the story was a great movie for its time, and this movie introduced new ideas into modern day films.
