My thoughts on Film 101!

Image
I originally took this class only to fill my elective requirement and I thought it would be fun to watch movies. I didn't think I would take so much out of this class then I did. This class has truly taught me a lot about analyzing film, and there being much more than meets the eye. Actors and Directors create these amazing pieces of art and I can't believe I have watched so many movies and not bothered to analyze a single one up until this point. It somewhat feels like I wasted a lot of money because of this not going to lie. Jokes aside, I really enjoyed this class because of how much I learned, I learned what it meant to be film watcher, what to look for in a very well written story, what to look for in main character, what defines a well written character, all of this in such a short time and I am sure there is more that I missing. The class was a lot of fun to be apart of especially if you make the most of it, that's what I tried to do. The film project and the consta...

What I thought about such an iconic movie, Cars!

Image
Cars is a movie released by Pixar Animation Studios in 2006. This movie is set in a world brought up with life filled cars. The story follows Lightning McQueen who is this hotshot cocky rookie race car, who dreams of winning the Piston Cup. The story begins with the first race scene. Where Lightning, Chick Hicks, and Strip Weathers are all competing for the Piston cup as these three racers are tied for the season points in 5013. This race would decide it all. However with some fortunate events Lightning finds himself in first place with a huge lead, however he went about it by only using gas and no tires and this arrogance would eventually lead to bite him. As he is on the last last lap both of his backfires explode and he only has his front two left. This results in him only being able to go so fast and this would result in Chick and Strip to catch up to him and force a tie breaker race in California. However Lightning still being arrogant forces his truck driver Mack to drive al...

My thoughts on Moonlight!

Image
Moonlight is a 2016 drama film directed by Barry Jenkins. The film is divided into three acts, each focusing on a different stage in the life of its protagonist, Chiron. The story explores Chiron's experiences as a young boy, a teenager, and a young man, grappling with issues of identity, masculinity, and sexuality. In the first act, titled "Little," we meet a Chiron, who is nicknamed "Little" due to him being so small. He is struggling with his mother's drug addiction and this is how he finds and and takes guidance from Juan, a drug dealer played by Mahershala Ali. Juan becomes a father figure to Chiron. Then we make it to the second at titled "Chiron" and this act follows the teenage life of Chiron where he faces constant building and him trying to understand his sexual identity. This is where we really see a character by the name of Kevin truly be fleshed out. We see him as the as a heterosexual male in the beginning of the act, however that b...

Jaws" is a 1975 thriller film directed by Steven Spielberg. the story revolves around a great white shark that begins attacking and terrorizing the local community during the summer tourist season. The town's police chief, Martin Brody played by Roy Schneider who is now in charge of the town as he just moved here from New York. The shark terrorizes the community and results in a Marine Biologist of Matt Hooper who is played by Richard Derfuss, to get more information on these shark attacks. The towns mayor then puts up a bounty for the shark and a reward of money for whoever kills the shark. This results in many fisherman and ordinary people setting out into the ocean to try and kill this shark. They end up coming back with a shark. Then the town is now presumed to be safe, however that isn't the case because the same shark that has been harming the innocent lives comes back and kills more people. This then leads to the introduction the shark hunter Quint played by Robe...

What I thought about Swiss Army Man

Image
The movie written and directed by Daniel Scheinert and Daniel was a comedy and drama film. The movies main actors Paul Dano as Hank and Daniel Radcliffe as Manny. The film starts off with Hank on a deserted island trying to commit suicide, however this all changes when he sees a random person wash up on shore, that person being Manny. Hank then proceeds to go over to the body and the body begins to fart. He then uses Manny as jet ski by utilizing his farts as propellers. They were then able to reach safe place where they can take shelter for the night. Hank gives him the name Manny and begins to tell him about everything. From teaching him about different life experiences and what do to when he sees a female he likes. During their time in the forest Hank has Manny experience some of his past experiences with life. One of the pivotal examples of this is the picture of a girl on a bus. So Hank then creates the whole scene just for him to explore his own life and pursue different fee...

The Short Film

Image
The genre we had form our short film project was suspense. Our group was very open to ideas since we all thought this would be very fun to do as a project. They elected me as the lead and so the process began. We decided on the premise of the movie being about a person who isn't actually there is see by the main character however that person isn't seen by anyone else. I learned a lot about film in this whole process as I didn't really know what to expect to begin with. However I learned a lot about eyes being the focal point in a lot of acting, eyes are such an important object or symbol because they can create emotions and branch off into other feelings. It was fun because we were all around campus looking for really good spots to film our scenes. Once we found our spots that we wanted to film, we really just started filming, with no story board, just a camera and ideas. And I think that might've made it such a good experience because we didn't constrain ourselves ...

Why the Amazing Spider-Man is the most enjoyable!

Image
The reviews of The Amazing Spider-Man series is all of the place from incredible to straight up awful. And to me that is really bizarre. I feel like the vast majority of the time is that it is 50/50 but, the people I talk to seem to dislike the series except me. It has a different charm in comparison to them all. Toby played Spider-Man the way I expected Spider-Man to be. Tom Holland, I felt is the best Spider-Man for the job because he brings in the youth and it blends well with his acting style. Watching Tom is like a breath of fresh air sometimes. However I don't feel his movies come near to what Andrew Garfield has done. Andrew feels like he has the right build for the role. Sometimes I think Andrew is a little to cocky to bee Spider-Man as he is supposed to be a teenager but, teenagers are cocky too, so it counts in my eyes. He able to showcase his amazing acting ability, especially in scenes where Peter is face with his own morality. In the end I feel like I enjoy the mature...
