Why the Amazing Spider-Man is the most enjoyable!

Image
The reviews of The Amazing Spider-Man series is all of the place from incredible to straight up awful. And to me that is really bizarre. I feel like the vast majority of the time is that it is 50/50 but, the people I talk to seem to dislike the series except me. It has a different charm in comparison to them all. Toby played Spider-Man the way I expected Spider-Man to be. Tom Holland, I felt is the best Spider-Man for the job because he brings in the youth and it blends well with his acting style. Watching Tom is like a breath of fresh air sometimes. However I don't feel his movies come near to what Andrew Garfield has done. Andrew feels like he has the right build for the role. Sometimes I think Andrew is a little to cocky to bee Spider-Man as he is supposed to be a teenager but, teenagers are cocky too, so it counts in my eyes. He able to showcase his amazing acting ability, especially in scenes where Peter is face with his own morality. In the end I feel like I enjoy the mature...

Movies in Theaters vs at Home?

Image
Movies as a whole has become a staple a lot of peoples lives. We can watch them anywhere and anytime. The problem that I see a lot now, is that people are going less to the Theaters and preferring to watch it on a streaming platform. While I believe that these are both great things, I do find it sad that people are not going to the theaters less. The best part of watching a movie is the experiences and memories that people make, and a lot of the time it comes with others. And the best place to do so, is in the theaters. I think a common trend I find is that movies are way too expensive. Which is completely true, movie tickets now are around $20 per person and not including sacks that even more expensive then they should be. And that comes out to $40 per movie night out. And with money being tight for a lot of people for a lot of different reasons, people have the option of waiting a few months for it to come to your streaming platform and saving $30 plus. Thus, the appeal for at h...

My Thoughts on Get Out

Image
Get Out is a horror film written and directed by Jordan Peele. The main character Chris, played Daniel Kaluuya. This movie is about a black man, Chris, meeting his white girlfriend, Rose,  parents for first time. Chris meets his girlfriends family on weekend trip to her family's house. The situation is normal to start but as the story progresses, he realizes that Rose and family is not normal. He finds out that her parents abduct African American people to brainwash them, render them unconscious and steal their bodies. This film was probably my favorite one in a long time. As someone who hates horror, I learned that horror with a side of comedic relief can be so beneficial. This film had a lot of very suspenseful moments especially towards the last 30 minutes of the film where Chris, fills the pieces together and creates a way for him to escape. The comedic relief here and there allowed someone like me to handle all the horror moments which is a nice way to alleviate some of ...

My thoughts on Marie Antoinette

Image
Marie Antoinette is a very historical film directed by Sofia Coppola. Marie Antoinette is played  Kirsten Dunst. This film was made in 2006. The film showcases Marie Antoinette's rise as she become the queen of France and the tragic end of reign leaving the Versailles. The movie does a good job at following chronologically the order of events that happen at a historical context. However this film doesn't feel like it was made for the discovery channel and it much more feels like it is able to express itself. The movie was fine. The movie felt like you could watch it, but sometimes drift off in your own thoughts which I didn't like as I like to feel immersed into the film. It might just be that I don't really do well with a historical type of film since I haven't ever lived that life, but I don't really know. Their were a lot of times where I had to fill in the pieces in my head to make sure I was following along correctly, which is fine but not always ideal whe...

My Thoughts on Rear Window

Image
Rear Window is a 1954 murder mystery movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The leads James Stewart who plays LB Jefferies and Grace Kelly as Lisa Fremont. These characters have an interesting dynamic as for the first half of the film Lisa is very much in love with Jefferies however, Jefferies doesn't know if he would feel the same because he doesn't necessarily agree with Lisa's lifestyle. the movie has a very uniqueness to it as every time Jefferies is looking through his window, we see through his window as well. This is something I really enjoyed because it made you feel like you are apart of the film and you are seeing what the around Jefferies is unfolding to be. This experience provides suspense to an already suspenseful film. The first half of the film I felt was a little slow as it felt like it took a long time to build up to the second half. The movements felt very slow in the first half, almost felt like it was in .5 speed. Which isn't bad but it isn't neces...

My Favorite Shot

Image
For my Second blog post of the semester, I wanted to take a look at a shot from a movie that I could watch over and over again because it motivates me so much. It is from the movie Creed, directed by Ryan Coogler.  This movie is very important to me as it makes me reflect on my childhood. As someone who really loves Rocky Movies this one being present day has taught me a lot about perseverance. This plot is easy to understand Adonis Creed is seeking to become a professional boxer and in order to start a new life he travels to Philadelphia to learn under Rocky Balboa, however, he is reluctant at first Rocky eventually caves in and teaches Donny how to properly box and to propel him to world stage. I love this scene because it is the first scene where Donny learns from Rocky and he is finally able to pursue his dreams. This is similar to me where I didn't know how to properly play soccer the right way until I met one of my favorite coaches, he taught me how to play my way and ...
